Vivienne

Vivienne Joy Herdina
was born at Monticello Hospital - CentraCare
on January 2, 2015
at 9:46am.
Luke & I checked-in at 6:30am
and we were assigned to nurse Lois for the day
who started the whole process of IV, baby monitoring, & a million questions.
Luke & I decided we were not going to find out the gender of the baby.
That decision has kept me up many nights
wondering if we were having a boy or a girl.
I truely felt the whole time that we were on our way to having a family
of 4 boys.
Even the nurse who was monitoring the baby's heart rate said right before going
into the OR, "I think it's a boy because the heart rate is so low, otherwise it's a very calm girl!"
Then all of a sudden I was at the moment I've been waiting for...& I heard a nurse say,
"It's a girl!"
Then I heard Dr. O say, "...just wait."
Then I heard Luke laugh & he said, "it's a GIRL!!!!!"
That's why I love this picture.
The whole operating room team was just as excited to find out the gender
because they knew we already had 3 boys.
Dr. O's grin under his mask is priceless.
That guy knew all along & was probably just dying
when we found out.
I was crying & in shock.
(p.s. I'm still in shock!)
I yelled over to Luke to hear what her scores were and that little girl scored 10/10!
Then everyone started laughing because apparently no one asks that question.
Except for us.
Meeting our sweet girl for the first time.
Pretty sure I was still bawling like a baby!
Luke & Lois took our girl back to the room
& I shortly followed since I was able to recover in my room.
Then the next few hours are a blur...
but I do remember recovery going well.
Each c-section seems to get easier
and I've got enough experience with 4 of them under my belt now!
(pretty sure I don't want to do it again though)
Later that day Grandma & Grandpa Herdina brought the boys to meet their new sister.
They just loved on her.
It was very sweet.
Vance couldn't believe that the baby was finally out of my tummy!
I brought a bow just in case it was a girl...I can't believe I actually got to use it!
My parents came to visit us that evening as well.
Their first granddaughter!
The next day Camy, Angela, & Grandma Elois
stopped by to meet Vivienne.
And they brought a lot of pink with them!
Outfits, blankets, sleepers, onsies.
It was great.
Just like grandma...I now have a family of 3 boys and 1 girl.
The boys had to come visit everyday...I loved the outfits they showed up in!
They clearly dressed themselves & it was a good laugh.
Watching dad change her diaper.
The boys gifted Vivienne with the "Goodnight Farm" book.
Adler read it to her.  Pretty sure she loved it.
Aunt Robyn & Uncle Nathan came to visit too.
They also brought 2 big totes of girl clothes that we can use.
It has been such a blessing!
Relaxing at the hospital.
Just sitting around waiting to recover so I can get home.
 Skinny little legs.
Early Sunday morning on day 2, I decided I would like to be discharged
& go home to sleep in my own bed.
The Dr.'s made it all happen & we were out of there.
On our way home.
When we walked in the boys couldn't wait to see her.
Then they started asking to hold her & it has not stopped!
We're wondering when that phase will fizzle,
but they're still taking turns & running up to her when her eyes are open to talk to her.
Snuggled up in her bassinet.
Sprawled out on the changing table.  She loves to stretch out her legs.
Hanging out with dad.
Olivia likes to spend time with Vivienne too.
Aunt Erin, Gabe & Grandma Yvonne stopped by the other day.
She loved getting a little massage by her aunt.
Luke brought me beautiful flowers at the hospital.
He's such a great husband!
Playing with their sister.
Friday was movie night at our house.
We snuggled up, ate popcorn, & relaxed.
It was wonderful.
Vivienne recently had her first bath, now that her cord fell off.
She loved it.
After her bath I snuggled her up in a bath towel & we sat by the fire for a massage.
She was in heaven!
And just last night we had some friends visit us.
It was fun finally seeing someone since we've stuck to home since she's been born.

Herdina Christmas

This Christmas was a little different...
poor Grandma Glad had just been diagnosed with the flu
& Grandpa Eddie was not allowed to join in the fun either,
since he was exposed to Glad!
We could not really re-schedule Christmas so we all went to Ryan & Lisa's farm
& had Christmas without grandma & grandpa.
Ohhh we all felt so bad,
but we did have fun!
We packed up the Rip Rider 360's that the boys got for Christmas
& they got to use them in the big shed.
We didn't hear from the kids all afternoon because they were all playing in the shed.
It was spectacular!  We decided we might just have to have Christmas there again. haha
Making loom band bracelets.
Conner showing up the assault rifle he built himself!
I'm still in shock looking at that thing.
The kids played lots of bingo.
The boys got a Lionel train from grandma & grandpa
& they couldn't wait to put it together at home.
It whistles & puffs smoke & is just amazing!
Now we can have a train under our Christmas tree every year,
which is what I always wanted.
The Saturday after Christmas we celebrated at my parents house.
I got a manicure & pedicure that morning knowing it would be my last chance
to do something for myself before the baby came
& when I got back home we opened gifts, ate a good meal & played some games
before heading back home.

A week later we were getting ready to have a baby.
The night before we were headed to the hospital we made cupcakes
to celebrate the birth of the baby.
The boys did a good job making sure they licked every surface of the cake batter bowl!
