Our Friday.

This past Thursday night was like any other.
Adler letting dad know that it's time to harvest the oats
as soon as Brock goes to bed
(knowing that's the only time
he can get out the 'deadly sharp, rusty' elevator)
& get some more oats in his silo.
He wants it full.
I don't.
Imagine that mess if he spills it.
And you know at some point he will.
Lucky me when that happens.
And oh yes, it's a big production.

Then the poor little guy had the worst night.
Throwing up all night.
Between the bed changes & pajama changes
we got NO sleep.

Then it was morning & Brockwas his usual self
playing & being a sweet boy
lining up the trains like his big brother showed him.
Too bad he couldn't pull the trains on the carpet
without them coming apart!

It was so darn cute.
Olivia was very concerned for Adler the whole day.
So they both laid by each other
ALL day.
This was Adler in the morning.

In the mid morning

Lunch time.

And during lunch time for Brock
he decided it was fainlly the BIG day
to feed himself.
What a mess,
but how fun!
(he was wondering what was wrong with Adler all day too.)

Early afternoon.
And still sleeping.

Brock in the meantime
was getting into trouble
twisting himself around our curtains.

Little squirrel!

And the late afternoon was filled with
lots of this...

Little House on the Prairie!
And Adler loves it.
I love him.
p.s. he felt all better by Saturday.

Moving on UP.

A BIG change happened this week.
Adler & Brock got bunk beds!

I was talking to a girlfriend about getting bunk beds
& had a few questions when all of a sudden as we were talking
a nice off white bunk came up on craigslist
AND
it was located 5 miles away! (AHHHH)
I have been looking for a good bunk bed for a few weeks
and there were a couple I liked
but they were too much $
and a long drive to pick-up.
So I hung up on her (sorry!) and called right away.
They were mine!
I love the feeling of getting a good deal.
I called Luke and told him we bought bunk beds
and that he needs to get them when he gets home from work!
What a fun way to spend Friday night.
But well worth it.  I couldn't wait!

Of course Brock is not even close to having a
'big boy' bed yet, but in the next year I'm sure
it will be time to move up from his crib.
In the meantime Adler is VERY happy about
the bunks.
He thinks he's sleeping under a tent everynight
and cannot wait for Brock to move into his room
because that means he gets to sleep on top
and climb that BIG ladder!

We took pictures to remember what Adler's room looked like
before the bunks and before Brock moves in!
Because I'm sure when that happens
it will become a lot more crazy in that room!

Adler gave Brock a big hug from behind
& asked me if I could take a picture!
You know you're taking too many pictures if your kid asks
you to take them. ohhh he's goofy!
I missed the hug, but got the smiles.
p.s. Adler is wearing his 'Bob the Builder' sweater
that does not fit over his head & we're constantly taking it off & on
because he apparently gets 'SO hot'.
He wants to wear it ALL the time.
Word to the wise...don't buy something that you prefer your child not wear
because that will be the one thing they wear all the time. AHHHH

Putting the bunks together.
These are the best quality bunk beds that we wanted to buy,
but couldn't imagine spending that much brand new
(knowing they won't be in them forever).
And they're even the antique off-white color that I adore.
We LOVE you craigslist.
p.s. plus I just sold a bunch of stuff from that lovely site this week too!

Then Emily spent the day & night at our house
and the boys opened their Christmas gifts
(a little late).
Here's Adler trying to play the kazoo!
Try to explain how to hum to a little one.
He did catch on later that night.
It is now a toy that can only be played
in the basement!

Adler had to help Brock open his gift of course.

And last night
we all got on top of the bunk bed
& played like wild monkeys.
What a fun week!

Last night.

Luke walked in after work last night and went back to
Adler's room to see what the boys were doing.
He then proceeded to ask me if I knew what the boys were up to.
I told him they have been playing real nice & quiet in Adler's room.
(Which now that I look back...kids & quiet are NOT always a good thing)
Luke started giggling & said I best go check it out.
Here's what I saw...

You can't really see how big the pile was, but it was BIG.
And there were LOTS to pick up.
Look at the empty shelves that were previously
packed tight with books!

For those of you parents who have not yet realized...
those fun leap frog fridge magnetic toys scratch the fridge!
AHHH
I wish I would have been told that before the boys made a couple
nice scratches in our new fridge.
Drive me bonkers.
But anyway, I took the magnets down ASAP
after the discovery.
The boys loved playing with them so I felt kind of bad
taking them down,
So I found a picture frame at an antique store,
we bought some steel at the home store
and Luke made a new magnetic board!

The boys got on their tool belts & filled them with tools
so they could help dad make their new board that
they could put their magnets on.
Ohh it was a BIG deal
& golly were they excited when I brought the box of
magnets out!
Adler kept telling us, "Thank you mom & dad, I really like it!"
I think we heard it 5 or 6 times!

We ONLY have 4 of these magnetic toys!
But they come with a lot of magnetic inserts too.
Luke secretly thinks WAY too many I'm sure
But they ALL get played with
A LOT!
Thanks boys for proving to daddy that you need
all the toys you have! haha

Here's what Livy and I were doing
as dad & the boys slaved away at making my grand
crafty idea come to life!

This & That

Here's some of what the Herdina household has been up to lately...

It was a nice VERY cold day outside,
but the boys wanted to go with dad to plow snow.
I was not going to argue,
because that means a little 'mom time'.
This is Brock upset that he had to wait a minute to go outside.
When the snowpants go on there's NO waiting for him.

He was so impatient & upset that he fell over.
Can't you just see me standing by him with the camera
waiting to capture his emotional attack.
Well I did!
And I laughed.

They even mow lawn in the winter!
We can't wait until Spring so we can be outside
EVERY day.
It can't come soon enough for these little guys.

Word to the wise...
when you're finished with a spice container
wash it
& let them play with it.
It's still a 'toy' they fight over!

Why is it so fun to drink bath water?!
I think he's just trying to practice drinking from a cup
like his big brother.
At least that's what I hope he's doing.

Brock is ALWAYS hungry.  REALLY.
He's making sure supper is going to
be done on time.

Adler enjoying a cupcake right before bed.
He sure loved me!
The cakes were cream cheese & choc. chip filled.
They were awesome.
(A great recipe from Sara!)
p.s. he got new slippers for Christmas.
he little toes pushed through his favorite Bob ones
so he's onto some new (used) ones.
p.s.p.s. I love second hand stores (or garage sales).
How could you not?!
I think I paid $0.50.

We check on the boys everynight before we go to bed
and this is what Adler looked like the other night.
He resembled 'Mary' with his blanket on his head.
It was a good laugh for me anyway!

The Yanish family stopped by for a visit this past weekend
& in lieu of Joe's birthday
we played games
ate cake
drank a lot
& had fun.

Gabe & Adler on their way to the indoor pool.
They love that place as you can tell
by the expression on their faces.

Partaking in a little boggle
(my personal favorite game!)

This was my view from the kitchen.
Ohhhh man! or should I say Ohhh sister.  hahaha

Do you see Olivia?

Ohh there she is.
Being a hotdog between the couch cushions!
Ohh she's something.

And we ended tonight with what else but suckers
in the bath tub.
Adler would have NEVER had a sucker at Brock's age
but because Adler has one, Brock must have one.
For all of you out there with only 1 kid...
and deny this will happen to you
just wait
you'll see!
It was a complete meltdown at Home Depot
when Adler pulled out a ring pop.
Thank the Lord that I put a sucker in the diaper bag
for a moment like tonight!
p.s. Mom's should always pack a sucker in their diaper bag for a back-up.
But when we got home their suckers got all full of coat fuzz.
So we started over with new suckers!

Ohhh he sucked & sucked

& licked that thing!

What a weekend.

It seems like so much has happened this weekend.
Here's a few pics from the running around that we did.

I could snap this pic multiple times every day.
Adler & Brock playing in their 'Thomas' tent.
Ohh they love it.
And I remind Luke of the endless hours of entertainment
it provides them and free time for mom
and to think I got it for a $1 & Luke thought
I was crazy!
Who's crazy now.
He always eats his words on my wonderful deals.

Friday night was a night out for the girls!
Luke got home from work and I took off
to meet some close girlfriends
for supper & drinks.
I don't think this has ever happened.
I was singing & smiling in the car all the way to the resturant
I had a GREAT night.
Thanks for the catch up time ladies.

Saturday we drove to G & G Johnson's house
to pick up our Christmas gift
(a LOT of beef! Thanks mom & dad).
G & G Herdina also met us at the Johnson farm
to pick up their Christmas gift too,
which was also a lot of beef.
Eddie was super excited to take home
a bunch of liver and heart.
Ohh I could throw up!

Here's Adler & his cousin Gabe playing in the hot tub.
(What a nice view to look out at the woods & private lake!)

Brock also had to get in some of the hot tub action too.
Shortly after this picture he was soaking wet
from all the splashing!

Had to take a play break for some fluids!

Then they had to shower off & play some more.
We heard screaming & giggling for 1/2 hour
& usually grandpa's bathroom floor is ALL wet!
p.s. why do kids feel the need to drink shower/tub water?

The boys playing farm & Gabe squeezing into the barn!

Making some home-made whip cream.

Ohh my, what a picture.  Grandma's & the boys.
Gabe calls Glad & Ed (Luke's parents) grandma & grandpa too!
hahaha ohhhh only Gabe!

Snuggling with grandpa Wayne.
Brockster's favorite buddy.
And since Gabe & Adler play a lot together now
Brock gets grandpa to himself.
How lucky he is!

Finally the 2nd hand store had a baby cap big enough for Brock.
I bought one & now will make them myself!
I LOVE them & if you have a baby you just might get one.

p.s. I'm reading up on my sewing machine so I can learn some new techniques
to make more cute things.

And today...
Adler had to put his own shoes on
so guess who also had to put their shoes on?
Of course Brock!
He loves his new shoes he got for Christmas
Even though they're WAY too big.
Adler tells me that Brock wants to wear them though,
so he did today!

Lord help us!
Or should I say help me.
Enough said.

And to top the night off...
Brock wearing dad's winter hat!

Good night.
